Newbridge College reaches semi final of new All Ireland Schools Quiz

Newbridge College reaches semi final of new All Ireland Schools Quiz

This year Newbridge College are embarking on a whole new quiz experience.  A new school's quiz, due to be televised on TV3 in the New Year, is being recorded at the moment.  After a long trail starting back in March/April, Newbridge succeeded in making  it through all the regional heats.

The quiz is organised on the lines of a GAA game with five team members starting and the chance to make two substitutions during the game.  With Ciaran O'Carroll at midfield, Chris McCarthy as our goalie and Ralph Hurley O'Dwyer marking the oppositions goalie we were in a very strong position from the off.  The final score was 42-34.

On Friday newbridge played a very strong St. McCartan's from Monaghan in the 1/4 finals. This was a very evenely matched game, St. McCartan's clawing their way back from a deficit of 18 points to lose by three on a final score of 42-39, at the end of a nail biting second half.  All involved are now back in training for the semi-finals which will be recorded in Kilkenny on 28th November.

The other members of the team are Sarah Kyne, Conor McHugh, Niall Johnson and Patrick Harty all  of whose contributions have helped to leave us in a strong position facing the semi-finals.  Watch this space for updates as the quizzes happen.
