Our Senior Rugby team start their Leinster Schools Senior Cup campaign with a trip to Barnhall RFC to take on Wesley College in the first round. We wish the whole squad and coaches Greg McInerney, Andy Melville and Brian Murray the very best for the big game. We have an unprecedented eight bus loads of supporters going to the game so we’ll be looking for all those mad black and white fans to cheer on the boys to victory!
Last week saw a few of our teams getting back into the swing of things since the Christmas break. Our U16’s played their final game before starting their assault on the thirds and fourths leagues next week with a trip to Castleknock. We got off the mark early on with a penalty from outhalf from Conor Browne. We followed that up with a try from winger Adrian Dunne which saw us take a 10:0 lead into the break. In the second half, we turned the screw a little and further tries by Ronan Mangan, Sam Murray and Darragh Hennebry saw us home by 29 points to 5. Others to impress on the day were Marcus Duke, David Moynihan and Conor Thompson who we welcomed back from injury.
The U16 B team also took on Castleknock on Wednesday and proved far too strong on the day running in 9 tries in all. The pick of these was a first ever try for prop Cameron Dempsey!
Our Juniors faced a tough trip to the Navan Rd to take on Belvedere College as their Cup preparation continues. The A team did well against a strong team and the score remained close until midway through the second half. We eventually went down 32 7. The B team found it very tough going and were well beaten by their Belvedere counterparts.
