Our open team Alyssa O'Neill, Louise Morrison Aisling Doyle and Leanne O'Sullivan WON the latest Inter schools show jumping Competition in fine style on Saturday last the 2nd February. This strengthens their lead in the league. Newbridge is now 19 points ahead of their nearest rival with three more competitions to go. Our second open team Jill Kinirons, Clare Manning Mary Ann Ormsby and Hannah Mc Donnell, finished 9th after the jump off, a very respectable result. 37 open teams competed. InIn the novice team competition both of our novice teams qualified for the jump off and finished 3rd and 4th in their competition. Our novice competitors were Orlagh Keenan, Clare Manning, Holly Hannigan Kate Ryan and Delphine Cordonnier. The cold and frosty weather did not deter the 50 teams that travelled to Mullingar on Saturday the 2nd February for Mullingar Equestrian Centre’s Secondary Interschools Showjumping Competition. With a 9am start there were fears that some of the novice teams would not appear, but these fears proved groundless. 13 teams competed with four of these producing clear rounds to qualify for the novice jump off round. Scoil Mhuire, Tullamore, won this in fine style. Killbeggan was just beaten into second place and the two novice Newbridge College teams took third and fourth place respectively. This was a good start for Newbridge College as its open teams then went on to perform very well in the Hoofprints League competition that followed.
