Congratulations to the Newbridge College black team (Alyssa O'Neill, Carolyn Harty, Leanne and Ashley O'Sullivan) who WON the interschools league competition held in Crossmaglen on Saturday the 12th after an exciting jumpoff.
Alyssa also WON the individual competition. This is the College’s 3rd back to back win and puts Newbridge College ahead in the team league leaderboard and the College, represented by Alyssa is also leading the individual leaderboard. Our other team also qualified for the jump off and finished in 4th place. The team members were Aisling Doyle, Una and Donal Delahunt and Patrick Harty.
On Sunday we were represented in the team competition in Swords by Delphine Cordonnier, Kate Ryan, Holly Hannigan and Brid Conlan. Well done to the team who finished in joint 8th place. At the same competition, Alyssa once more won the individual and also came second!

There was contrasting fortune for our two Cup teams this week in the semi-finals of the Leinster Schools Leagues. The Seniors went down by 23 points to 15 against Kings Hospital while the Juniors recorded a fine 19:5 win the their replay with Gonzaga.
The Seniors took on K.H. in St Mary’s R.F.C. and started the game well. An early Peter Osbourne penalty was followed by a opportunist Kevyn Mahon score which Osbourne also converted to give us a 10 point advantage early on. However KH battled back and by half time they had closed the gap with two successful penalty kicks. In the second half, KH took control of the game. We were losing the battle to control the ball as their big pack seemed to have a higher work rate and this was the key to winning this match. Ina ten minute spell, they crossed the line three times to take a commanding 23 points to 10 lead. Darragh Hennebry scored with the final play of the game to leave the final score 23:15 to Kings Hospital. We have to have a good long look at ourselves after this defeat and realise that we can be excellent in training but it doesn’t matter if we don’t turn up on match day.
The Juniors on the other hand picked the perfect time to bring out their A game and controlled their replay with Gonzaga from start to finish. The final score was 19 5 and sets up a cracking final against Kilkenny College.
Other Results: Inter A 21 Castleknock 7; Inter B 0 Castleknock 15; Inter C 29 Castleknock 32.
Congratulations to 1st Yr B’s who drew their match in Kings Hospital.
Congratulations to Daniel Carr and Sean Farrell who won most improved Newbridge College Cross Country athletes for the season. Katie Berney, Claire Healion and Rachael Smith won best female athletes and Niall Delahunt, Mike Healion and Eoin Murphy won best male athletes. Well done to all!!
