At time of print, we were on the cusp of the Senior Cup 1st

Gonzaga College SJ were the visitors to Ellers on January the 29th. Three games took place with similar scorelines in all. The Cs went into battle and proved too pacy and powerful for their opposition. All panel members played their part in a total team effort with Harry Jones (tackling), Sam White (attacking play), Jack Morrin (support play) and Liam Kelly (work rate) the standout performers on this occasion. Final score: 40-5
The B's mixed their play well against a good side. Backs and Forwards linked well, creating and attacking space with speed resulting in some excellent scores. Leading the way in the back-line were Donnacha Kinch and Jody Flanagan with Gearoid Scanlan and Vaughan Ryan the pick of a hard working forward pack.Final score:46-14
The A's got off to quick start against a well coached and organized Gonzaga side. They mixed their plays and patterns well with both hard narrow carrying and wide attacking play on view. Lots of the team put in eye catching displays built on a group appetite for work and collective improvement. Best on the day were Paddy Waters, Ben O'Connor, Sam O'Loughlin and Conor Hanly. Final score: 45-5. Next up is CBC Monkstown Park (away) on Wednesday February 5th.

Newbridge College competed in the South Leinster Schools Cross Country Championships in Carlow on Thursday the 30th of January. First into action were the Minor Girls crew who produced a brilliant display of distance running. They secured team Silver, just one point behind the winners,in an ultra competitive high standard race. Leah and Amy Tyrrell (4th and 6th) and Anna White (12th) led the way ably supported by Una Gaire, Niamh Murphy, Ruth Dillon and Ellen Parker.
The Minor Boys were not to be outdone and secured two individual medals in their race. Jack Morrin (Silver) and Leo Healy (Bronze) competed ferociously with Cian Cahill in fifteenth position also qualifying for the Leinster Championships. Their buddies Paddy Neary, Alex Kerins and Harry Jones also put in a huge effort resulting in a Fifth place finish for the team.
The Junior Girls finished Fourth in their team event by just one point with Lara Prendergast (11th) and Annie O'Neill (12th) producing top class performances. Anna O'Donnell (20th), Hannah Popplewell (28th) Aisling Mullins (31st) and Alex Connors (32nd) maintained the high standard of the College athletes in a huge field of runners.
Cathal White ran solo in the Junior Boys race and finished 27th in a tough race over a challenging 3Km course. Finally the Intermediate Girls went into action and dug deep to 'tough out' the big distance and top class competition. All three Skye Harkin, Orla Doyle and Gabriela Sancho Gil can be proud of their effort on the day.
Next up for seven individual runners and the Minor Girls Team are the Leinster Championships in Santry, on Wednesday the 12th of February. EQUESTRIAN
Results for the Showjumping Team
On Sunday the 27th of January the team of Mary Fitzgerald, Jamie Hargaden, Robyn O'Donnell and Niamh Behan took 3rd place at Tipperary Equestrian Centre. In the Open Individuals Jamie Hargaden Won with Niamh taking 4th and Robyn O'Donnell took 6th. Lola Gabor Sweeney and Niamh Behan qualified for the Horse Sport 110cms Final.
