The 1st Yr A team beat Rathdown 2-0

The 1st Yr A team beat Rathdown 2-0. This was their first league match this season. After many weeks of hard training, the team faced a tough challenge for their premier fixture. However, all the girls worked very hard together to show how much they had improved over the last few weeks.

The first goal was scored by Bronagh Leahy in the first half giving Newbridge the lead.  In the second half the girls had to make sure they did not become complacent and held on well to score a second goal thanks to Roisin Burns.  All girls played well and ended the match with a well deserved win.
The 1st Yr B team also had their first match, and again faced a tough opposition in the shape of Alexander College, a school that always has a very strong team. The girls started off energetically and held Alex to 0-0 for the most part of the first half. However, just before half time Alex scored a great goal, only narrowly missed by our goalkeeper Mary Lynch. At half time the girls were fairly tired but still went out in to the second half determined to catch up. The girls worked hard and put up a good fight but a strong Alex team scored another well placed goal. The B team ended up losing 2-0 but made a great effort and will definitely be ready to win the next one.
