Congratulations to the College J.C.T. on their 27 - 12 win in the first round of the Leinster Schools Junior Cup. Well done to all the players and coaches, and to all the supporters who turned up. There was also some close Past Pupils interest in the game as Shane O'Neill's son Tom, Shane Menton's son Luke, Tom Berney's son Tom, and Shane O'Dwyer's nephew Mark Delaney all played a part in the win.

Gúna Nua Theatre Company

Ruthie Edgeworth (2006) is working in a theatre company in Dublin called Gúna Nua and their next production, The Goddess of Liberty, is opening this Thursday, February 2nd.

S.C.T.

The S.C.T. were narrowly beaten by Pres Bray today, with the last kick of an exciting game. Despite coming on top 2-0 in the try count, Newbridge lost out 10 - 12. They gave it a great shot and credit is due to all the players and the coaches for their tremendous efforts today, and throughout the season.

Vincent Browne
The Past Pupils join in congratulating Vincent Browne on his 50 years service to the College. Known to many Past Pupils down through the years, Vincent continues to work in the College and we wish him the best of good health as he celebrates this landmark.
H Cup
Congratulations to Past Pupils Johne Murphy, Jamie Heaslip and Fionn Carr who each played important roles in their club's wins at the weekend, helping to ensure qualification for the quarter finals of the H Cup. Johne was a try scorer in Munster's fabulous win, while Jamie and Fionn helped ensure Leinster's great run continued.
Senior Cup Hockey

Hard luck to the Senior Girls Hockey team on their loss today in the Cup v Teresians. The players and coaches put in a great effort.

                                                         LENT 2012

The Gospel today speaks to us of the central elements of Lent, which begins today. Jesus says to the people When you give to the poor don’t let anyone know about it...When you pray, go into a room alone and close the door. Pray to your Father in private...When you go without eating, don’t try to look gloomy as those show-offs do.....” The invitation today, Ash Wednesday, is to make prayer, fasting, and giving to those in need, central to our journey through the Lenten season.  It can be a special time of growth and transformation in our lives.
