EQUESTRIAN
Congratulations to our Equestrian teams on winning the Midland Interschools show jumping League for the 2nd time in three years.
Our team Alyssa ONeill Clare Manning and Leanne and Ashley OSullivan came 2nd in the team competition in Mullingar on Sunday, which was good enough to secure the win! Our other teams came 5th and 6th in the same competition. The teams’ members were Sadhbh Springate \ Brid Conlon Emily Higgins and Holly Hannigan and Kate Ryan, Sarah Kearin, Brid Conlon and Meadhbh Brassil. In the Open Individual competition Newbridge College swept the board taking the top 6 places! This is the very first time this has happened in Inter schools showjumping! The order was 1st Alyssa O'Neill, 2nd Leanne O’Sullivan, 3rd Ashley OSullivan, 4th Emily Higgins, 5th Maedhbh Brassil and 6th Clare Manning! Well done to all!
Emily Higgins and Alyssa O'Neill have been selected for the panel of riders to represent Ireland at the European Working Hunter Championships which will be held during the summer. 25 riders countrywide only were selected so this is a great honour. Congratulations to them both.
Lisa Marie Dolly finished 4th overall in her category in show-jumping in France and Saoirse Mooney finished 6th overall in her category – well done to both girls.
RUGBY
We brought our competitive rugby season to a close this week in spectacular fashion, collecting two more trophies along the way. This brings to four the number of rugby trophies won in the school this year which is a great achievement for all involved. Our Senior 2nd’s won the Leinster Seconds League for the first time in the schools history when they defeated St Gerards of Bray 16:14 while the Junior 1st’s won their second trophy of the year when they defeated Kilkenny College 23:14 in the Leinster Junior Plate Final. GIRLS SOCCER
Hard Luck to our U16 Girls soccer team who were defeated 2:1 by Gael Coláiste Cill Dara on Tuesday. Our goal scorer was Muireann Scully.
