Competition Rules, Regulations and Conditions

(to be read in conjunction with second level schools league show jumping rules)

 

Open competitions Part of Hoofprints league.

1. The competitions are open to riders in full-time second level education in the school they are representing and who are under 19 years of age on the 01-01-09.

2. Schools may enter team(s) in descending order of choice (A, B etc.).  Each entry must include the date of birth of each competitor, the school stamp and signature of the school principal.

3. A team may consist of 3 or 4 riders.  Best three scores to count (as per Aga Khan nations cup competition).  The competition shall be held under S.J.A.I rules.

4. There may be no more than one Grade A horse/pony per team.

5. A rider and horse/pony may jump exclusively for one school only and may not be entered on more than one team. Passports may be checked on the day.

6. The Chef d’Equipe appointed by the school must be present with the team on arrival and during the competition.  The Chef d’Equipe must declare the team on arrival. The Chef d’Equipe is responsible for the conduct of his/her team at all times. The chef d’Equipe or person responsible for the team must sign the rider’s temporary SJAI ticket available on the day. 45 minutes prior to competing

7. Riders must be correctly attired and protective headgear must be worn at all times when mounted. The wearing of back protectors is STRONGLY recommended.

8. In the OPEN competition the height of fences in the first round will be minimum 85cm – 90cm and in the second round minimum 90cm to 95cm.  In the jump off it will be 95cm to 1m.  The course will be built by Mr. Chris Byrne.

9. In the NOVICE competition the height of fences will be minimum 75cm-80cm and in the second round from 80cm to 85cm. In the jump off it will be 80cm to 85cm. The course will be built by Mr Chris Byrne.

10. In the event of an equality of faults, the Chef d’Equipe will appoint two team members to jump off against the clock.  The names of the schools involved will then be placed in a hat and an open draw will decide the order of jumping.

11. Prize winners must be mounted for the presentation of prizes. Passports must be available to be checked if required.

12. The  course will be open for inspection on foot from 900am.  The competition will commence at 930 approx.  Please note your teams approximate time in the drawn order and arrive at the practice arena a minimum of 20 minutes before. Allow approx 6 minutes per team. The organisers reserve the right to change the start time if necessary.

13. In the event of an appeal/objection, only the chef d’Equipe may lodge it. This must be accompanied by €60 which will be refunded if an objection is upheld. There will be thirty minutes from the time the final results are posted in which to lodge an appeal/objection.
