A magnificent victory for the Newbridge College senior girls basketball team
A magnificent victory for the Newbridge College senior girls basketball team against the Tullamore senior girls, in the finals of the Midlands division C league, on Thursday the 6th of December.
Once again Newbridge College gave a fantastic display of excellent quality basketball. Their opposition challenged them every step of the way but fortunately for Newbridge College their efforts went unrewarded. Katie O' Sullivan was superb for Newbridge College with her all round ability on the court. Susie Coffey and Melanie Mullins created great scoring opportunities which pushed Newbridge College into the lead. The Bergin sisters, Ciara and Aoife, had an outstanding game scoring almost half of the Newbridge College points. Louise Vaughan came into the game in the third quarter giving the team a renewed energy and spirit helping them on their way to the final victory. Other members of the team were Cathy-Anne O' Shea, Paula Connelly and Fiona Dunne.
This splendid result of 30-18 to Newbridge College was cheered on by many supporters who travelled from Newbridge College.
