On Friday last 3 Irish traditional Musicians visited the College.
This is an annual event where musicians come into the school and play for all the music classes. During the different time slots the music students are given an opportunity to listen to live music, to ask questions about the instruments on show and also to find out about Irish music in general. This is an invaluable opportunity especially for the exam classes of the Junior and Leaving Certificate as Traditional music is a full section on each paper .This year’s Musicians were:
Padraig McGovern from Co. Cavan – Uilleann Pipes/ Tin Whistle
Sabina McCague from Co. Monaghan – Harp/Fiddle
Paul Meehan from Co. Armagh – Guitar/ Banjo
Padraig King from Co. Limerick – Button Accordion
